Confined Space Entrant/Attendant

The NB Safety Council Inc. offers a two (2) day course in Confined Space Entrant/Attendant. This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills required when working in a confined space environment. Participants will receive training and certification appropriate for ENTRANTS AND SAFETY ATTENDANT in confined spaces.

This program will cover applicable government regulations for working in a confined space environment. Trainees will acquire knowledge and skills through a combination of lecture presentations, group discussions, and individual and team practical exercises. Trainees are required to successfully compete written and practical testing in order to receive course certification. The Council works in partnership with Survival Systems of Dartmouth, NS to deliver this training.

Topics covered by the CONFINED SPACE ENTRANT/ATTENDANT will include study of and practical demonstrations of the following:

Areas of Study

1. Hazards of Confined Spaces, Entry Permits, Entry Procedures
2. Purging and Ventilation, Atmospheric Testing, Emergency Actions
3. Attendant Roles & Responsibilities, Personal Protective Equipment
4. Basic Rescue Considerations

Practical Training Exercises will be conducted in a mobile unit using the following equipment:

1. Portable Gas Detection Systems, Tripod Access & Retrieval System
2. Davit Access & Retrieval System
3. Respiratory Protection Equipment
4. Personal Lifelines, Lockout Equipment, Self Rescue Systems
5. Positive Pressure Ventilation Equipment, CSA Standard Z259.10, Group E Harness
6. Other Personal Protective Equipment
