Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC)

The Professional Driver Improvement Course was designed by the Canada Safety Council. The Course is recognized by major transportation companies across Canada as excellent information for professional drivers who will benefit by reviewing and refreshing the techniques of defensive driving.

The course is designed in six one-hour sessions with information given in the classroom supported and augmented by a Drivers Notebook. The Drivers Notebook also contains case studies, examples and review quizzes which the students are requested to go through at home and during the course.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Apply the techniques of defensive driving in their jobs as professional drivers
  • Understand the benefits of consistency applying the techniques of defensive driving to prevent collisions, save lives, deliver cargo undamaged, on time and maintain good driving records.

OVERALL GOAL OF THE COURSE:
To create an awareness of tactics that can be reasonably used to prevent collisions in spite of the actions of others and the conditions professional drivers encounter.

The course is designed utilizing videos, overheads, Drivers Notebook, and group discussions.
